What Do Cats Love? 10 Ways to Make Your Cat Happy!

What do cats love is a question that often gets overlooked. Many people don’t think of cats as the affectionate and loving creatures they truly are but as independent and self-sufficient, which is an unfair misrepresentation of their true nature. Cats can be just as loyal and loving as any other pet, and they certainly deserve love and attention. If you treat your cat right, they will give back plenty of love and happiness in return.

My cat brings me joy every day, whether she’s sitting on my lap, purring, or sleeping next to her cat toys. I wanted to know what cats love, so I did some research to find out how to make my cat happy. If you want to make your cat happy, these are the best ways to do it.

What Do Cats Love? 10 Ways to Make Your Cat Happy TODAY.

1. Offer your cat a variety of food and water dishes – try different shapes, sizes, and materials.

To make your cat happy, offer them a variety of food dishes. Like humans, cats can be picky eaters and often refuse to eat if their food dish is dirty or uncomfortable. Different materials produce different sounds when the cat eats from them, which may help entice the picky eater. By providing a variety of dishes, you will also help your cat stay healthy by exposing them to different types of food.

2. Add a scratching post to your home for the kitty to use on their own terms.

Cats love to scratch, so it’s important to provide them with something they can do on their own terms. There are scratching posts equipped with a toy or treat that the cat will only find if they give it a good scratch. It takes some time, but generally speaking, most cats end up loving their scratcher!

3. Provide places where they can climb or jump around – like furniture with shelves or steps up to higher spots.

Cats love to climb and jump, so provide them with plenty of areas in your home where they can do just that. Cats feel safer and more secure when they can see their surroundings from high up, so make sure to include furniture with shelves or steps for them to climb.

4. Give them plenty of toys that will keep them entertained and engaged while you’re not home.

This one is especially important if you’re gone during the day. A bored cat can get into a lot of trouble, so make sure to have a variety of toys on hand that will keep them entertained. Toys that move or make noise are always a hit, and you can also buy puzzle feeders that dispense treats when the cat gets it right. This will stimulate their brains too to stay bright and alert.

5. Keep them groomed – cats should be brushed regularly and nails trimmed regularly.

Grooming is an often overlooked way to keep your cats happy, but it’s very important! Cats love having silky smooth fur and nails that don’t get in the way of their normal activities. Regular brushing keeps mats from forming in their fur and keeps kitty from getting hairballs, while regular nail trims keep them happy and relaxed.

6. Keep your cat’s litter box clean by scooping it at least once every day.

The litter box is one of the most important things to a happy cat, and it’s also one of the easiest things to keep clean. Scoop it at least once every day and change the litter completely every week to keep your cat from getting frustrated with the smell or dirty box.

7. Create a comfortable place for them to sleep by adding an extra blanket or pillow to your bed.

One of the best things about having a cat is that they love to cuddle, and what better place to cuddle than in your bed? Add an extra blanket or pillow to make sure the kitty has a comfortable place to sleep, and don’t be surprised if you find yourself waking up with a furry friend curled up next to you.

8. Give them treats daily as a reward for being good or doing a good job.

Rewarding your cat with a treat is a great way to show them that you love and appreciate them. Even if they already have their special treat dish, you can still give them a tiny snack as a reward for being good or doing a good job.

9. Play with them every day – even if it’s just 15 minutes.

Playing with your cat is a great way to bond with them and keep them happy. A little bit of playtime every day is all it takes, and you can use anything from a simple wand toy to something more elaborate like a fishing pole toy. This will keep the kitty entertained and engaged, and it’s a great way to wear them out before bedtime.

10. Keep the house free from scents they dislike, such as fragrant candles or strong cleaning products.

Last but not least, make sure to keep the house free from scents that your cat doesn’t like. Many cats don’t like the smell of fragrant candles or strong cleaning products, so make sure to store those products somewhere where the kitty can’t get to them. If your cat is always hiding under the bed or in another room when you’re using those products, they’re probably not very happy with the smell.

Conclusion

In conclusion, cats are just as lovable and affectionate as any other pet. They deserve the same amount of attention that dogs do! Cats need love, too, so make sure to spend time with them every day and give them the things they love, like plenty of toys, a clean litter box, and regular grooming.

By following these tips, you can make sure that your cat is happy and content in their home, and you’ll be able to enjoy their company for years to come. Thanks for reading!

Yes, having an alternative to furniture can sometimes solve the problem. If you need more info on the art of warming up your cat to the scratching post, feel free to check out this article. Sometimes it can be tricky to get your cat to choose the scratching post over other things- like furniture!

Good luck to you and your cat.
